A sizeable report on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni’s future in the IPL has surfaced. Gossip about MS Dhoni and retirement emerges now and then and is a constant subject matter during the Indian Premier League. Nevertheless, it seems that Dhoni’s story with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is merely halfway through.
According to reports, Dhoni is not likely to retire post-IPL 2025. The 43-year-old is currently leading CSK following a mishap that kept Ruturaj Gaikwad out for the remaining IPL 2025. Dhoni has confirmed that he doesn’t know yet if it’s the last season for him, but reports indicate that he will continue.
In the report, there are too many loose ends to be handled within the team to allow MS Dhoni to leave at this point. It must be remembered that CSK are again in the transition phase. The franchise got a massive wake-up call in IPL 2025, which has been their worst-ever IPL season. It has resulted in a massive shift in strategy, with CSK signing several young guns as injury covers during the season.
But with Gaikwad out injured and a few youth players in the side, Dhoni’s inclusion will be important to assist CSK to move into the new age. Dhoni has previously stated that he hasn’t yet decided if he’d play next year. The 43-year-old has said that it would be a matter of fitness, since he only plays the two months of the IPL in the course of the year.
“I’m 43, by the time I complete this July, I’ll be 44. I’ve 10 months to determine whether I’ve to play one more year. It’s not me who is making the decision, it’s the body which informs you whether you can or not. One year at a time,” Dhoni had stated earlier this year.
