The problems of the IPL failing team, Mumbai Indians (MI), have been pointed out by some senior players of the team. There is disapproval on their side against captain Hardik Pandya’s performance and how the team is being led. Wanting Rohit to get away with his worst season so far, MI replaced him, who had earlier led them to 5 IPL titles, with Hardik, which may not go down well.
The only thing that made Hardik most nervous was the fans who booed him during the match days. In sources’ words, leaders of the MI team stated to the coaching staff just recently that they did not see the zeal they were used to in the dressing room, which, in their opinion, was a problem of Hardik being a captain.
It became clear that the official from MI did not deny the crisis. Still, rather, it was the team acclimatizing to the different leadership styles after getting used to the dominance of Rohit for the past ten years. He explained, “This is one of the recurrent problems that keep occurring in changes of leadership which is very often in the sports industry. After the due game, it was allegedly the time that the players and coaching staff sat down to write a meeting to find a solution for their team’s poor performance.
The heroes of as much as one hundred percent of the Indian cricket family, like Rohit Sharma, appeared to have been present at the gathering. They tackled their problems head-on and touched upon the issues that held them back. The recent incident with one or more senior players appearing in the media also resulted in team management holding several private chats with the players.
Such events are consistent with Hardik’s press conference where he all doubts about top scorer Tilak Varma for him not being on the ball. Team’s failure was not a good reason to choose one player and address him this way, this could not be acceptable in dressing room either. Experts scrutinizing a game, an unfavorable sense of discord among the players in MI was revealed this season.
Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke even alleged dissent within the group and bashed the entire policy. MI officials have expressed that they will review and determine where high-performing and low-performing team members will be placed based on their contributions for the season every year.
