BCCI secretary Jay Shah has said that two candidates have been shortlisted for the post, and the new head coach of the Indian cricket team will be appointed by the end of this month.
Last month, some prospective candidates met the CAC for a BCCI interview, including Gautam Gambhir and WV Raman. It will start when the team tours Sri Lanka for the limited-overs series because the stint of Rahul Dravid ends after the T20 World Cup.
Before Rajasthan Royals teams head to Sri Lanka, An Indian team with Shubman Gill captaining it will play Zimbabwe in a five-match T20I series under VVS Laxman.
Already, according to Shah, we have clear confirmation that the appointment of both the coach and the selector will soon be completed. They have IPs and names. CAC has interviewed and shortlisted two names, and that is what we will stick with.
Like Dravid, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja, the new generation of players has arrived. Gambhir is a favorite to take up the captaincy role due to his two-time World Cup winner status. His strong IPL mentorship background could also help him succeed Dravid.
The next changes should help launch the national team’s new period of victory, based on the T20 World Cup victory.
