Sri Lanka Cricket has provisionally suspended Niroshan Dickwella because of charges of an anti-doping infringement that is understood to have taken place during the recently completed Lanka Premier League. The SLC made this announcement on Friday, immediately after the event in which Dickwella captained the Galle Marvels.
Speaking of the suspension, the SLC voted for; it is necessary to emphasize that it will persist indefinitely. The violation was committed and brought to light through a test conducted by the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency (SLADA) during the LPL 2024, thereby stressing the SLC’s seriousness in eradicating corruption in the world of cricket.
“This, launched in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and done in compliance with the requirements of the WADA, aims at keeping the sport and athletes away from banned substances,” the statement explained.
This is not the first time the SLC has had to pull Dickwella up short; he has a rather poor record as far as discipline is concerned. He last played for Sri Lanka in March of the preceding year when he is 31 years old.
