Pakistan captain Shan Masood showered words of praise on the bowling test performed by the spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan as they grabbed 20 wickets to take Pakistan to a 152-run win over England in the second Test at Multan.
They made four changes to the playing XI for the test, deciding to play with the same turf underpin as the first match of the series. In the bowling unit, they placed three spinners and one pacer: Noman Ali, Sajid Khan, Zahid Mehmood, and Aamer Jamal. Kamran Ghulam was the newly entered person into the Test matches, being a right-handed batter.
The strategy switch really worked for Sajid, who took nine wickets and ended up as Player of the Match. Noman was a star with 11 wickets, including 8 for 46 in the second innings. Newbie Kamran Ghulam also caught fire, getting his first Test hundred in his first Test innings while his side reached 366.
Masood was elated by the win and still appreciated the spin duo to whose brilliant spells he attributed the win. “We were glad to execute our plans, take 20 wickets, and back it up with solid scores. This win is particularly special after some tough times,” he said.
He praised Noman and Sajid, saying that both the players had experienced with them when things were worse. “In the second innings, we didn’t even require a third bowler, which speaks for their performance. Zahid and Jamal also provided critical support,” he added.
This victory was Pakistan’s first Test win at home after 11 matches and Masood’s first as the Test captain. He also hailed Kamran Ghulam for his century under pressure; he said, “For Kamran, stepping into the shoes of one of the world’s best batters is never easy, but today he showcased an exceptional effort.”.
