Pakistan equalized the three-game series with a 152-run victory over England on the final day of the second Test match in Multan.
Pakistan won their first home Test in nearly four years, defeating England by 152 runs in the second Test in Multan on Friday. This leveled the three-game series and avenged last week’s crushing defeat.
The victory ended 11 Tests at home without a win since February 2021, and it was achieved before the sun could rise on the fourth day. England lost eight wickets in the session to be bowled out for 144 while chasing 297.
Pakistan off-spinner Noman Ali broke his best bowling figures, with 8-46 in the second innings, taking the last seven wickets to fall, thereby completing match figures of 11-47.
It was the first time Pakistan spinners had taken all 20 wickets to fall in a match after Sajid Khan had taken 9-204.
Had Khan, bowling from the other end when the last wicket fell, taken one more wicket, it would have been the first time in Test cricket that two bowlers had taken 10-wicket hauls in the match.
It was Pakistan’s first Test win, home or away, in nearly four years and came just a month after Bangladesh’s humiliating 2-0 home series defeat.
The first one is always special, and it’s come after some hard and rough times,” said Pakistan captain Shan Masood, whose position had been under growing pressure.
