PCB submits champions trophy 2025 schedule, India-Pakistan clash planned

That requires inspection while approaching ICC Champions Trophy 2025; PCB has forwarded the scheduled draft to the ICC. The Press Trust of India (PTI) via a cricket revelation/training announcing that the much-expected India/Pakistan cricket match is scheduled for March 1 in Lahore but only on condition that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) agrees to the Indian cricket team to participate in the match.

The proposed 15-match tournament will be held from February 19 to March 9 and will be hosted in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. Official PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who was present during the ICC T20 World Cup final in Barbados, unveiled this proposed schedule.

An ICC Board member recently affirmed that PCB indeed developed the proposed schedule for the Champions Trophy, which includes 7 games in Lahore, 3 games in Karachi, and 5 games in Rawalpindi.

The first match will be in Karachi, the semifinals will be in Karachi and Rawalpindi, and the final will be in Lahore. More crucially, all of India’s games, potentially having a face-to-face clash with Pakistan in the semi-finals, will be held in Lahore.

The tournament groups have been drawn as follows: Group A comprises India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand; the other group comprises Australia, South Africa, England, and Afghanistan.

All the board chiefs of the participating nations, with the exception of BCCI, stated that they would fully support the decision, and India’s cricket board will check with the Indian government before providing its input to the ICC.

As a result, it is pertinent to state that the ICC cannot offer any direction that will force a board to act contrary to its government’s policy. The last tournament played in Pakistan was Asia Cup 2023 in which India did not get permission to travel to Pakistan; hence the matches were a combination of Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

As cricket fans around the world look forward to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the prospect of an India-Pakistan cricket match in Lahore is attracting a lot of interest, and the buildup depends on the BCCI’s decision to field the team.
