India backs Jadeja despite form struggles and hints change is unlikely.
Questions are being asked over Ravindra Jadeja’s spot in India’s T20 side amid recent poor form. The all-rounder failed to make an impact in the first two World Cup games.
However, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey expressed confidence in the experienced campaigner. He stated that head coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathour motivated Jadeja through conversations.
“You don’t expect all of them (players) coming into form every game. It’s a team game,” Mhambrey noted. He believes the 33-year-old only needs one good performance to regain lost touch, given his skills and experience.
Mhambrey also pointed out Jadeja wasn’t the only one struggling, referring to Shivam Dube’s troubles. He stressed the importance of backing players in a big tournament like the World Cup.
While Axar Patel has filled Jadeja’s role competently, the coaches hinted that changes may not happen. Mhambrey said the team has faith that Jadeja can turn games around soon.
India still sees the all-rounder as a valuable asset. While his position is under scrutiny, the management continues lending support in hopes he can reproduce the form that made him an automatic starter. However, the pressure is on Jadeja to repay the faith.
