RCB coach Andy Flower hails Dinesh Karthik, confirms no India coach bid

Royal Challengers Bangalore coach Andy Flower has shut door on speculation around him succeeding Rahul Dravid as India’s head coach. After RCB’s eliminator loss concluded their campaign, Flower confirmed not putting forth his name for the position which tenure runs till 2027 ODI World Cup.

The Zimbabwean expressed contentment with continuing franchise cricket, which he termed “fascinating stuff.” Flower had rewarding stints with notable T20 leagues across the globe. He lauded the efforts of veterans who represented RCB this season.

Flowers praised the impact of Dinesh Karthik and Virat Kohli, who embraced emotional farewell gestures, suggesting it was the 36-year-old wicketkeeper’s swansong. Karthik etched a storied IPL career, scoring more than 4000 runs. For RCB, he was a bankable striker, amassing over 900 at a prolific strike rate.

Though Karthik kept his retirement ambiguous, Flowers hinted that he would play more cricket before pursuing coaching or commentary. The coach believes Karthik possesses the temperament to excel in supporting roles and wishes him the very best. Kohli, too, signified the end of an iconic RCB phase but will motivate youngsters in his new role.
