RCB’s Watson apologizes for 2016 IPL final heartbreak

In an emotional moment, Shane Watson, famously known as the Australian cricket team’s all-rounder, took time to deliver an emotional message to the RCB faithful: sorry for his poor performance in the 2016 IPL final match.

The shocking defeat against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the M.Chinnaswamy stadium venues still echoes in the RCB fans, despite the team chasing its dream of acquiring the first IPL title champion.

Watson, who had been a part of the RCB team of that targeted year, had a bowl that he was regretful for, which he estimated had a detrimental impact on the 7-run loss of the team, something he had hardly expected.

Speaking at an event, the former cricketer was candid about his performance in the match, which was “arguably one of the worst I have seen from a bowling perspective.” He added that he “most probably cost RCB winning that TATA IPL.”

Its stats can be traced back to Sunrisers Hyderabad confirming their place in last year’s final. Led by David Warner, they scored a formidable 208 for seven, powered by splendid half-centuries from Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli.

RCB had a target to chase but had to remain disappointed, having been confined to 200/7. The defeat was heart-wrenching for the island of firmament Watson, who, in a bid to defend his team, only managed to offer 61 runs in his four overs.

Heading into a new season, RCB will once again try to chase the IPL title, and fans will hope that it will be the year to finally break the duck. The Author noted that the Faf du Plessis-led team has so far experienced some instability, but they have managed to reach the playoffs and will be facing Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator match.

The much-anticipated clash at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, has not been a paradise for big scorers this season as too many matches crossed 200 marks, only 12 out of them. This could have the potential of turning out to be an interesting battle of wits, which would depend on the bowling and batting tricks of both teams to clinch victory from the jaws of defeat.
