Rishabh Pant returns to India’s test squad for first Bangladesh test

Rishabh Pant returns to India squad for 1st Bangladesh Test.

The BCCI on Sunday announced India’s squad for the first Test against Bangladesh, with Rishabh Pant making a comeback.

Pant, who last played a Test in December 2022, recently featured for India B in the Duleep Trophy where he scored 61 in the second innings against India A.

He will resume wicketkeeping duties for the national side along with Dhruv Jurel, who kept wickets impressively in the Duleep Trophy match.

Regular captain Rohit Sharma and veterans Virat Kohli, R Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja have been selected. Jasprit Bumrah also returns to the lineup.

Yash Dayal receives his maiden India call-up for the three-match series. In-form Sarfaraz Khan retains his place after an impressive debut against England.

KL Rahul returns but only as a batter. Shreyas Iyer misses out. The first Test is scheduled to begin on September 19 in Chennai.

Pant will be hoping to make an impact with the bat after his quick-fire 61 aided India B in setting a challenging total against India A in Bengaluru.
