Rishabh Pant’s sixth test century powers India amidst top-order collapse vs Bangladesh

Rishabh Pant’s return to Test cricket sees him level Dhoni’s century mark.

Chattogram: Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant marked a brilliant comeback to Test cricket, slamming an enterprising century against Bangladesh on Day 3 of the first match.

Ostensibly in a spot of bother after India lost early wickets chasing a 422-run target, Pant steadied the innings with Gill. He began watchfully before accelerating nearing his fifty.

With rain looming, the aggressive southpaw upped scoring as Bangladesh weary, earning boundaries and rotating strike fluently en route his ton. At 124-balls, it highlighted patience and positive intent.

Skipper of just 34 Tests so far, Pant has now equaled former captain MS Dhoni‘s record for most centuries by an Indian keeper in the format.

Whereas Dhoni achieved the milestone across 90 games in a storied career, Pant’s exploits underscore his precocious abilities second to none behind the stumps too.

Falling for a valiant 109 attempting an audacious shot, he inflicted severe pressure enabling India’s domination till the final session’s end on Day 3.
