In a blunt statement, veteran cricketer Rohit Sharma has criticized Star Sports, the IPL broadcaster, for continuously violating player privacy. In this PR incident, the former captain of Mumbai Indians exposed that the network has vainly continued recording his private conversations and publishing them on TV despite his pleas not to do so.
Rohit Singh argued that not only are our professional lives now intrusive, but it seems like cameras are watching every step and conversation, whether during training sessions or match days. He narrated that in the eyes of the broadcaster, this is nothing but a clear violation of the mutual bond between the players, fans, and the sport.
The star batsman’s rant followed his talk to Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, which went viral on Social media. Rohit’s request that the Star Sports cameraman switch off the sound during his conversation with his ex-teammate Kulkarni is another example of his politeness.
Rohit views the ruthless attitude towards achieving distinct content and more engagement as the reason the privacy of players is being ruined. He has strictly advised that the broadcaster should use the restraining power in favor of the cricketers and not purely in the interests of the game.
While the well-established opener of Mumbai Indians experienced a rainy IPL season, finishing last in the point tally, Rohit’s decision was made to cease the leadership role. At the same time, Hardik Pandya led the rest of the players.
