Rohit Sharma’s hilarious confession leaves teammates laughing

India Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma’s habit of forgetting his things is no news. Many of his India and IPL teammates have talked about his forgetfulness. While the BCCI hosted the Naman Awards 2024 to celebrate the performances of Indian cricketers, a question on a hobby that Rohit has taken up recently which irks his teammates, raised by Smriti Mandhana, sent guffaws of laughter around.

“I don’t know. They tease me about forgetting. It’s not a hobby but this is what they tease me about – that I forget my wallet, and passport – which is not true. That happened a couple of decades back.”.

Rohit with a string of India’s top cricketers graced the annual awards in Mumbai, during which Jasprit Bumrah was awarded as the men’s cricketer of the year 2023-24, while Smriti Mandhana received the corresponding award in the women’s category.

Always nice to get together as a cricket fraternity and share your thoughts on what has happened throughout the year. A lot of players who have performed well get rewarded. I remember the last one in Hyderabad, now in Mumbai,” Rohit said.

The 37-year-old will be leading India in the upcoming three-match ODI series followed by the Champions Trophy later this month.

When quizzed about India’s impending clash with Pakistan in the Champions Trophy, Rohit said, “I think in the past 2-3 years, I’ve spoken a lot about it – it’s just a game. No special mention of that game from at least us.”
