Shivam Dube’s stellar IPL performance earns him a spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad

Shivam Dube’s astonishing form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has catapulted him onto the contender of being recruited into the Indian T20 World Cup team. The versatile player in action for the Chennai Super Kings franchise has grabbed the selectors’ eyes with how he has led the comeback, earning him a place in the Twenty:20 World Cup yet to take place in Pakistan.

In November 2019, Dube was capped in T20I team India for the first time, and since then, he has featured in 21 matches. IPL has now been the platform on which he relentlessly outperformed himself match after match, culminating in his recent selection of the T20 World Cup squad, a really great milestone in his early career days.

In a recent interview conducted by the BCCI, Dube opened up about the sleepless nights he experienced until he found out the team news. Simon also shared the words of encouragement that captain Rohit Sharma gave him during the T20I series held between Afghanistan and New Zealand this year.

As shown by Dube in the current match by his exceptional batting skills and side fielding abilities, Dube is one of the best all-rounders for the side. Along with this IPL, he has proved his big-hitting talent, playing the half-centuries totaled three and accumulating the 350 runs with an enormous average of 58.33.

The chance of Dube being rated 12th man has instead come to his six-hit batsmen because of the introduction of the IPL Impact Player rule, but his ability to bowl medium pace can bring breakthroughs whenever needed.

However, the fact that the 2021 T20 World Cup is being hosted in the Caribbean region and USA makes Rishi Dube a brilliant X-factor for the Indian team in the tournament due to his bowling prowess and ability to utilize the nuances of the surfaces where it is played.
