Shoaib Akhtar remarked on Pakistan’s humiliating group-stage elimination in the Champions Trophy after defeat to India on Sunday.
Following a blunt swipe at Babar Azam, ex-Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar tore into captain Mohammad Rizwan on live TV, terming him “abnormal” following Pakistan’s humiliating group-stage elimination in the Champions Trophy after defeat to India on Sunday.
Talking on PTV after India defeated Pakistan by six wickets in Dubai, setting the humiliating fate for the defending champions, Akhtar appeared frustrated discussing the Rizwan-led team. He not only condemned the PCB for their inability to bring a change in the dynamics of the game in the country but also condemned the captain.
“We do not have a personal agenda against the players. If I did not get paid, I would not even be here talking about Pakistan cricket. Seriously, I have no connection with this team. I have been doing this since 2011 and I have said everything. I have been noticing this decline since 2011. If you appoint abnormal individuals captain and make unusual choices, this is what the outcome will be. I have worked with captains in the past whose personalities would shift three times in a day,” he added.
Malik and Hafeez, the former captains of Pakistan, were also present on the same panel. While the latter took off on a flight with the words of Akhtar, Malik cut in by asking the Pakistan pace legend to join the PCB and “fix the system.”
