Smith is open to batting anywhere for the Border-Gavaskar trophy

Australian opener Steve Smith has said that he is prepared to bat at any time. Please note that the team is preparing for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against India in November. These words come as Smith has recently started experiencing difficulties after Warner’s retirement from international cricket.

Smith was asked about the faster rates during the opening. He replied and said, The turnaround can be quicker when you have just ten minutes between innings. Besides this, there is not much difference. I will bat wherever the team management wishes.

Smith has not been successful as an opening batsman in the recent past, with a total of 171 at an average of 28. 20 at an average of over 50 in the four-test series, which included an individual score of 91, not out. Until this series, he has been proficient in the third and fourth positions in which he has scored 5,966 runs at an average of 61. 50 at number four.

As for Smith’s role in the team, Usman Khawaja said he wanted the Australian to bat at number four, adding that it was as if the bowling team was being offered a chance to dismiss Smith early by having him go out to open.

The much anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy will commence with the first Test, which will be played from November 22 to 26 at the Perth Stadium. The series is followed by the pink ball day-night at the Adelaide Oval and the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The final Test will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3 to 7.
