Sunil Gavaskar’s Take on RCB, T20 Cricket, and Test Cricket’s Future

Gavaskar advises RCB to focus on chasing to revive fortunes.

Legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar has suggested Royal Challengers Bangalore target chasing totals more frequently to improve their prospects in IPL 2022.

Speaking on a sports show, Gavaskar highlighted RCB’s batting strength and said opting to chase whenever possible would give them a better chance of winning, given their faltering with the ball.

RCB are currently placed 8th with just two points from four games. Their bowling efforts have failed to defend scores on both occasions of batting first.

In contrast, the team chased down targets against Punjab and narrowly lost while pursuing Lucknow’s total.

During the discussion featuring Boycott and Doull, Gavaskar reflected on T20 cricket’s entertainment aspect. He noted modern batsmanship has become more adventurous, with unconventional shots entering the repertoire.

On Test cricket’s future, the iconic batter stated the longest format would survive with possibly three-nation bilateral series and others playing three matches.

RCB will hope to turn things around in Jaipur on Saturday, taking heed of Gavaskar’s words while up against the Royals.
