Suryakumar Yadav named new T20I captain for India

India is a team that transitioned to the shortest format of the game as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja retired from T20I after the World Cup victory in the West Indies. It has been realized after this transition in the selectors that Suryakumar Yadav is the right person to hold the T20I captaincy charge till the T20 World Cup 2026.

The chairman of selectors, Ajit Agarkar, noted that Indian players in the dressing room played a big part in Suryakumar’s being named the new captain of the side. Agarkag added that Suryakumar Yadav has also earned the respect of his teammates due to his cricketing brain and the all-important sense of humour.

Indian T20I specific cricketer Axar Patel went on to shower praise on Suryakumar Yadav by saying, ‘He gives bowlers the fields that they want and lets the bowlers play their own game.

’ The Indian T20I team led by Suryakumar Yadav is sure to test its metal against Sri Lanka, which forms the kind of cricketing base on which the team would like to build before the T20 World Cup of 2026 at least.
