T20 World Cup prize money: South Africa bags Rs 10.67 crore, India earns…

India lifts the 2024 T20 World Cup title after 11 years.

Team India broke an agonizing 11-year wait to claim their second T20 World Cup title with a thrilling 7-run victory over South Africa in the final.

Chasing India’s 176-7, South Africa were restricted to 169-8 despite Klaasen’s blazing 52 off 27 balls. Hardik Pandya defended 16 in the final to seal a tense triumph at Kensington Oval, Barbados.

India’s victory earned them a prize purse of $2.45 million while runners-up South Africa received $1.28 million from ICC. Losing semi-finalists England and Afghanistan got $787,500 each.

The match witnessed contrasting knocks from Virat Kohli‘s patient 76 and Axar Patel’s blistering 47. Their century stand proved pivotal in India setting a competitive total.

Rohit Sharma’s inspiring captaincy and Dravid’s coaching tenure ended on a high note. The team expressed relief and joy to break a drought lasting since their 2013 Champions Trophy triumph.

The final also saw varied emotions as Klaasen threatened to script a comeback before Pandya shut the door on South Africa’s chase. India’s stars etched their name in history with the momentous title win.
