New Zealand cricketer Trent Boult bids farewell to the T/20 World Cup as he announced that he will no longer suit up for New Zealand in the World Cup. After the match, Boult got teary-eyed in the post-match press conference and said, Every team erupted something of the last couple of days.
However, the 33-year-old Ashley Cole left the door open regarding his future international career; he said,
“I haven’t thought much beyond this, I do not wish to say much about it right now, true it was good to be out there one last time.”
Lanky fast bowler Chris Boult is one of the most successful Blackcaps, having played for New Zealand for 13 years, during which the player has helped the team to achieve success and collect 317 wickets in 78 Test matches, which makes Boult the fourth player in this list.
This makes Steven Finn third on the list of top one-day wicket takers with 380 scalps; his long-standing new-ball partner Tim Southee is next on the list with 380 scalps.
Boult was two wickets down during the toss during the T20 World Cup match against Papua New Guinea, while Lockie Ferguson was on a hat-trick bash with an incredible bowling analysis that reads 3-0-0-4.
Nevertheless, the success at the final proved to be ephemeral, as New Zealand was eliminated from the tournament and did not progress beyond the group stage for the first time in the cumulative history of the event.
When questioned about their T20 future, Blackcaps captain Kane Williamson could not commit to anything or said, “Well, I don’t know; there is still a lot of time between now and then, so we are just trying to regroup as a team as such and try and carry on in the format as much as possible. Yeah, it is over to some other Internationals Red Ball cricket for the next year, so yeah,
Williamson stated on Boult that he has been a great servant of the game and excellent for the team in all three formats. The star batsman would miss Boult upon his leaving, it has been so special to be with him in his entire career.
With a great cricketer now leaving the team and the New Zealand cricketing fraternity paying their last respects, the next issue is how to rebuild the team and prepare for the upcoming series in the test and one-day international games.
