Virat Kohli shares his moments with Rinku Singh before the ICC Cricketer of the Year Award

Kohli, rising star Rinku share moment ahead of ODI awards in USA.

Indian batting icon Virat Kohli caught up with young prospect Rinku Singh before collecting his ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year trophy in the USA recently. Kohli’s exploits in 2023 included a record-breaking World Cup and 1377 runs, cementing him as the format’s finest. His celebrations of “God’s plan, baby!” with Rinku highlighted the camaraderie between senior and junior cricketers.

The star batter’s 77-match reign at the top of the ODI rankings ended, but his class remained undisputed. In the World Cup, his 765-run collection with three tons and best of 117 inspired India’s run to the finale.

The achievement added to his legacy, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s 673-run feat from 2003 and 49 hundreds milestone.

Meanwhile, Rinku’s ‘KKR’ warcry gained viral fame after playing a key role in their IPL triumph earlier in the year. His interaction with his Idol Kohli before the presentation underscored the inspiring impact senior pros can have.

Kohli is currently geared up for the T20 World Cup on a high from IPL 2024’s Orange Cap campaign. In a message celebrating cricket’s rise in non-traditional markets, he welcomed the USA hosting presentation ceremonies and recognized their pioneering role in embracing the sport’s growth.

The lighthearted moment between the celebrated senior and rising junior encapsulated Indian cricket’s blend of talent and camaraderie, driving it to newer successes.
