Virat opens up on quality time spent with family during break.
Royal Challengers Bangalore registered their first win of IPL 2024 after defeating Punjab Kings by four wickets in a close contest at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday. Virat Kohli played a stellar knock of 77 runs to power RCB to victory and was adjudged Player of the Match.
In the post-match presentation, the former India captain discussed using his two-month break to spend time anonymously with family.
Kohli revealed he didn’t have to deal with constant recognition during his time abroad. “We were able to feel normal for a change in a place where people didn’t notice us. It was a surreal experience to be like any other person on the road,” he said.
The 33-year-old admitted he is grateful for the opportunity to unwind with loved ones away from public glare. Kohli returned to India just before IPL 2024 and got stuck in preparations.
Though he looked rusty in the opener, scoring 21, Virat Kohli roared back against Punjab. Luck was on his side as he was dropped on zero, an instance Punjab skipper Dhawan said proved costly.
Kohli’s 70-odd runs shifted the game in RCB’s favour as they overcame a tricky chase of 177, also aided by Mahipal Lomror and Dinesh Karthik’s contributions.
