Kohli, who had earlier declared his participation in the T20Is but decided to retire from this format after the World Cup in June, returned to the Indian side in the ODI series. However, he has gone into a shell and could manage only 24 and 14 runs in the first two one-day internationals, as India is now 1-0 in the three-match series.
Indian batting legend Virat Kohli is again in the limelight, not for a good reason, after getting dismissed without having made a significant contribution to the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Former Pakistani “name” cricketer Basit Ali also could not explain how Kohli got out in different situations on the turning playing pitches of Sri Lanka. The former Pakistan opener especially took a dig at Virat Kohli, the world’s no. 1 batsman, who was out LBW twice. Even though he understands that this could happen to any player, including Iyer or Dube, he has a different reputation. Kohli is Kohli; it means Kohli is not in practice.
Basit also expressed worry on the way from KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who were not part of the T20I series, arguing that they might have lost touch with match practice.
Subsequently, with the third and final ODI scheduled for Wednesday, India will be looking to level the series.
