Quetta Gladiators seal playoff spot with last-ball win over Lahore Qalandars.
The Quetta Gladiators have qualified for the playoffs of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for the first time in four years after thrillingly defeating Lahore Qalandars on Sunday.
Chasing 191, the Gladiators reached the target on the last ball thanks to a six by Mohammad Wasim off Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Earlier, Lahore captain Shaheen Afridi helped post a competitive total with a 34-ball 55, but his bowling in the death overs failed to defend his team’s score.
It is learned that former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram slammed Shaheen’s expensive bowling at the end after Lahore conceded 21 runs in the last over.
With this win, Quetta Gladiators have booked one of the four playoff spots in PSL 2022. For Lahore Qalandars, the defeat means they are out of the tournament despite Shaheen’s valiant efforts with both bat and ball.
In the last-ball thriller at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Mohammad Wasim pulled off a stellar win for his team and denied Lahore a place in the next round.
