Gavaskar’s recent cameos have, in turn, attracted fanfare about Koli’s participation in the upcoming Indian Premier League. Kohli, absent for the test series versus England owing to a personal problem, has come back motivated and has shown to have what it takes to lead the Indian team. It took Krishna to point out that Kohli is missing these days for personal reasons. He also added that it looks typical for Kohli not to be featured in IPL games.
There are many different views about whether Kohli will be looking to create a scorecard or sit back, as he has been off competitive cricket for some time. Hence, Lavaskar commented, “Will he bat…He is not playing for certain reasons and may not be playing in IPL as well”.
During this series, Kohli consistently finished among the top two run-getters in the immense IPL. In the last season, the two-time champion RCB, now led by newly appointed captain India, finished fourth in runs, scoring 639 across 14 matches.
Kohli has already been to London after the birth of his son but has appeared as usual in London lately. The Indian captain quickly congratulated Anthony and Sam for their outstanding performances in the series till now.
Kohli lies in the core of the RCB RCB team in the coming IPL season. The time will tell if Kohli will continue to open the batting or will decide to play as the third batter to build a stronger lower order.
