The Calcutta HC raised serious concerns by hearing petitions on alleged irregularities in Bengal teacher appointments.
The bench observed how the country’s future is bigger than a few thousand jobs given irregularly.
It said one rotten apple can spoil the whole bunch, hinting that such cases undermine fair selection processes.
Representing alleged irregular appointees, a lawyer claimed the WBSSC report couldn’t cancel jobs given 5 years ago.
However, the HC noted over 20 lakh aspirants competed fairly, expecting transparency in teacher recruitment.
After hearing all parties on the SSC’s 2016 recruitment of 9-12 teachers, it will take an appropriate call.
The Supreme Court had directed the HC division bench to oversee appeals on the high-profile teacher job case.
The case highlights the need for robust recruitment systems to ensure deserving candidates get opportunities through merit.
