New Delhi, Feb 24: Lakhs of Chartered Accountancy (CA) aspirants may need to brace for last-minute rescheduling as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)consider potentially postponing the highly anticipated May 2024 exams.
With the dates for India’s summer general elections still under wraps, there looms a likelihood of the two high-stakes events overlapping and causing a logistical nightmare.
“If the election dates collide with the CA schedule, our examination committee retains the flexibility to reschedule,” stated ICAI, as students across India wait eagerly to showcase their number-crunching mettle.
The intermediate and final exams originally stretching from May 2nd to 13th comprise the last leg of the three-tier marathon that starts with the Foundation Course exams in June. Students endure many sleepless nights preparing for a career-defining milestone.
While poll season brings its own magical energy, aspirants will hope it doesn’t interrupt the rigorous momentum built over the months. ICAI, however, has assured that mitigating student inconvenience remains the foremost priority while navigating any election code restrictions.
Besides tentative exam plans, ICAI also invited applications for observer roles to invigilate upcoming tests. Shortlisted candidates will be assigned duties in their own cities, earning remuneration of ₹3000 daily and travel reimbursements.
So as youth across India gear up to perform their democratic duties this summer, CA aspirants will watch the ECI calendar closely before redrawing their roadmap to the coveted membership. ICAI’s accommodative stance promises to assuage some worries, but focus remains key to figuring out the final mile.
