Therefore, IIT Delhi will sign an MoU with the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) to develop better railway infrastructure, safety, and operational efficiency across the country.
This agreement will enable IIT Delhi researchers to undertake a wide range of R&D projects in security, safety, scheduling, intermodal connectivity, and revenue optimization for the Indian Railways.
Full-time faculty members in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, and Management Studies are integrating to address several national challenges in the railway sector. The collaboration is expected to transform Indian Railways into a safer, more efficient, technologically advanced organization. It tends to solve some very critical problems of Indian Railways by combining the best research with application potential.

According to Prof. Preeti Ranjan Panda, Dean of Corporate Relations at IIT Delhi, the present partnership with CRIS marked the beginning of a milestone for the augmentation of railway infrastructure in India.
