Apart from this, IIT Kanpur is now developing a Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program that will improve the professional competency of Medical Officers and Paramedical Staff. Lectures will be given in the institute’s health center in the framework of this initiative to enhance the quality of patients’ treatment and to bolster cooperation with the Health Centre and referral services.
The program started with a one-hour special seminar given by specialized physicians of nephrology and urology to discuss how kidney diseases are detected and prevented. Other issues discussed were the incidence, prevention, and reporting of needlestick injuries in clinical settings, breast cancer screening, and new developments in tackling cancer issues.
More lectures dwelled on fever, its general control, and more special situations in pediatric patients. The specialists and professors gave lots of information on how best to manage cardiac emergencies in primary care and the special eye emergencies that can happen on campus at IIT Kanpur. Some of the topics under the group also tackled common skin diseases, guiding how to approach the problem to improve services in dermatology.
Continuing and Distance Education at IIT Kanpur cater to the demands of the students, academic staff, and working professionals to enhance their knowledge, providing Short Term Courses, Workshops, Online Certificate Courses, Internship Opportunities, etc., for people inside or outside the Institute.
