In a sad series of events, cheating was caught at an examination centre of Rajasthan State Open School, which is operated under the Rajasthan Education Department’s vigilance squad in the Phalodi district of Rajasthan.
The act was reported during the RIOTS of the Rajasthan State Open School Examination for the standard 10 & 12 in the Panji Ka Bera government higher secondary school, Kolu Rathod.
A report led the vigilance squad to the school, and upon reaching the school, the gates were closed. Unaborted, the officials penetrated the walls and got into the classrooms to be shocked at a clear violation of the examination etiquette.
Nishi Jain, the officer leading the squad, said teachers were involved in mass-scale cheating, in which solutions were provided on blackboards for learners to emulate. The team also found large quantities of cash with affected students; one student was said to have brought ₹2,000 with him to give to the teachers so that they could help him cheat.
The inquiry reached a theatrical stage when the officials realized that Anasuya and Komal Varma from the science stream were not only helping the students cheat but were also sitting in as placeholders to write exams on behalf of their fellow students.
The police were informed of the case, and a team was sent to the scene; however, two fake candidates reportedly bolted. The authorities have since begun prosecution by filing a case for the school principal, Rajendra Singh Chauhan, and 10 teachers.
“Some measures have been implemented: six third grade teachers and one librarian have been dismissed, and the administration is considering the further administration of the principal and the absent observer,” the Block Education Officer of Phalodi said.
This case has again proved that it is high time serious steps were taken to stop cheaters in Rajasthan from spoiling education. The media vigilance squad has won the battle by stopping the issue, and the authorities have confirmed that they shall not allow any form of examination malpractice.
