NEET-UG 2024 results to be revised as per Supreme Court directive

Finally, in a recent advancement, the National Testing Agency (NTA) shall be coming up with a new merit list of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2024 within two days from the observations made by the Supreme Court.

The Apex Court on Tuesday turned down the petitions requesting the cancellation of NEET-UG 2024 and calling for a re-test as no data could justify the claim. The court labeled the examination ‘vitiated’ because of the violation of the system’s integrity.

The court, however, asked the NTA to declare the scores that were re-calculated based on the correct answer to a question in Physics, as mentioned in the report by IIT-Delhi. Earlier, the uncertainty regarding the correct answer had left the NTA in a lurch, which had awarded four marks to all the candidates who had ticked both options as the right one, thus the four toppers.

Speaking to media personnel during the press conference, Union Education Minister Pradhan reassured the public that the new merit list will be released within two days, observing what the Supreme Court stated. He also said that it would be high time to clamp down on cheaters and wished to emphasize the inviolability of the exam, which is important.

Although the verdict will benefit the ruling BJP government, which has been criticized for alleged malpractice in the exam, the re-evaluation of results could yet again become an issue of debate among many aspirants.
