New guidelines for Medical colleges to introduce postgraduate courses

The medical colleges intending to start new programs first consult the respective board before they are allowed to send their proposals. After a positive reply, they submit the proposals with the required fees for MD/MS, DM/MCh, PDF, PDCC, or six-year DM/MCh programs.

The National Medical Commission has stipulated the procedure to be followed for the inclusion of new medical qualifications as per the Recognition of Medical Qualification Regulations, 2023. Any medical qualification in an undergraduate, postgraduate, or super-specialty medical qualification awarded by any medical institution shall be entitled to apply to the respective board for the inclusion of such qualification not already recognized.

It is, therefore, informed that the medical colleges and institutes willing to start a new postgraduate medical qualification not listed in the annexures specified in the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023, may submit the application form for the establishment of a new qualification which is available on the website of the NMC, along with the following annexures:

(a) Standard Assessment Form Part-A, institutional information common to all PG specialties.
(b)Standard Assessment Form Part-B of the Parent Specialty.

Each application should be submitted along with the prescribed fee of ₹2,50,000 plus GST at 18% for each qualification, addressed to PGMEB. PGMEB will not consider any application that does not have the prescribed format or the requisite fee.
