SC to hear plea for ED probe into NEET-UG 2024 irregularities

The Supreme Court will listen to a plea today for seizure in the alleged NEET-UG 2024 Examination Scam under the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The petitioners have pleaded to the court bench to activate the provisions of section 45 of the PMLA under which the accused can be taken into custody.

This came with the Supreme Court a week ago while hearing petitions for CBI investigation into charges of paper leak, said that any negligence of anyone, no matter how small, must not be tolerated. Similarly, the paper leak scandal investigation has formally been referred to the CBI, and the agency has lodged the first complaint.

It may be recalled that a constitutional bench of Justices Vikram Nath and SNV Bhatti will hear petitions containing alleged unlawful means, malpractice, and paper leaks in NEET-UG conducted by the NTA. Deja vue, the apex court, has been hearing various petitions relating to NEET-UG results and has clubbed all the pleas involving alleged malpractice, irregularity, or paper leak for disposal on July 8.

Earlier in the last hearing, the bench advised the NTA, saying,

“You are an agency examining the students. You must be fair in your dealings. If there is an error, you can say yes this is an error and this is a step we are going to take further. At least it creates some level of confidence in your work. ”
