
The Global Learning Council (GLC), headquartered at the Villars Institute (VI) in Switzerland, envisions a future of democratized global education, particularly in emerging economies such as India, Brazil, Rwanda, and Kenya. The initiative aims to create next-generation leadership through systemic change and intergenerational collaboration.
GLC and VI have teamed up with Schoolnet India. The company aims at enhancing teaching-learning outcomes through technology. This company has partnered with 100,000 schools; hence, this collaboration looks forward to positively influencing 50,000 students and teachers within the first year and reaching 10 million students in five years.
Within the last six months, Schoolnet and GLC have co-launched three school transformation initiatives, which include pan-India ideation, capacity building for affordable private schools in partnership with the International Baccalaureate (IB), and developing a course on climate leadership.
The EcoInnovators Ideathon Grand Finale occurred at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi on January 24, 2025. In this competition, the press was created to encourage students to come up with a suitable environmental challenge, such as air and water pollution or waste management, and propose a solution using technologies such as AI, IoT, and robotics, among others.
Over 800 participants from participating schools were narrowed down to 100 teams, who got expert mentorship through masterclasses before culminating in the Grand Finale presentations by the top 10 teams. The event encapsulated schools from all geographies across different educational boards, such as IB, CBSE, and state boards. It was an exceedingly creative, tech-driven portfolio of projects across diverse subject areas, hence a unique event with great learning outcomes. HP sponsored the event.
Team Vanguard, represented by Shreyas Aggasare and Nakshatra from Delhi Public School Electronic City, Bengaluru, Karnataka, emerged victorious with an exceptional project. They earned an opportunity to present their work at the Villars Symposium in Switzerland in June 2025, gaining global recognition. An esteemed jury comprising representatives from IIT Madras, TERI, Grok Learning, GIZ, UnconstrainED, an IB school, and New York-based Sure Start selected the winners.
250+ students from Delhi/NCR schools participated in the event, which included an interactive quiz powered by Schoolnet’s AI-based classroom solution, the Geno app. The finalists of the Ideathon and quiz participants also received cash prizes of Rs 1.5 lacs. Schoolnet and GLC & VI also partnered with the IB to empower educators across schools.
