In a related matter, the Honorable Supreme Court of India has decided on the various applications filed seeking quashing of the grace marks therein afforded by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in the NEET-UG 2024 examination.
The court accepted the Centre’s suggestion to provide additional chances to 1,563 candidates who want an option to re-write their exams as the students are dissatisfied with the time being wasted in the examination conducted on May 5.
Given the rising students’ agitation over what they consider unfair standards in NEET UG examination results, the thing was taken. This was heard by a vacation bench comprising justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta. In response to the hearing, the counsel for the Centre and the NTA presented before
re the bench where they stated that the students given grace marks will be allowed an option for a re-test.
Consequently, the re-test has been scheduled for June 23, as per the court order and the NTA has been given the authority to cancel the scorecards of the 1,563 candidates who want to appear for the test. For those who opt out of re-appearance, their first, okay scorecards, as shown above, will be used, excluding the grace marks.
From the communications over from the NTA, the court has been told that the re-test outcomes are expected to be released before June 30, therefore permitting the counseling to commence on July 6.
The Supreme Court has also reacted concerning the various petitions that have been made referring to malpractice that was exercised in the implementation of the NEET examination, a petition that was made by Physicswallah CEO Alakh Pandey.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Under Graduate, commonly known as the NEET UG exam, planned by NTA for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH etc, courses, has fuelled a debate. Miscarriages like leakage of question papers and grant of grace marks to over 1,500 medical aspirants have exacerbated situations that have attracted protests and instances in several High and Supreme Courts.
