10 more Pakistani nationals arrested in Bengaluru

The latest arrests come weeks after the arrest of Parvez, a Uttar Pradesh man accused of helping 22 Pakistani citizens settle in Karnataka, primarily in Bengaluru, using fake Hindu identities.

Bengaluru police said on Wednesday that ten more Pakistani nationals were arrested on charges of illegally staying in India with fake documents.

This brings the total number of Pakistani citizens arrested for illegal stay in the Jigani area on Bengaluru’s outskirts to 17.

The latest arrests come in the wake of the capture of Parvez, a man accused of helping 22 Pakistani citizens settle in Karnataka, mainly Bengaluru, using fake Hindu identities. According to police sources, six of the 10 newly arrested are women.

“In a new case filed in the matter, 10 Pakistani nationals, out of whom six were women, were detained on Tuesday from Jigani jurisdiction (Bengaluru locality).

They have been detained on allegations of staying illegally in India through fake and forged documents. Some also found overstaying illegally,” said a senior police officer to PTI.

While a few accused wore Hindu names, many others carried their old names.

According to a report in India Today, there had been earlier arrests of four members of the Pakistani family at Jigani.

The subsequent interrogation leads to the arrest of three Pakistani nationals at Peenya. Parvez, from Uttar Pradesh, is arrested for the third time in this case.

He is accused of helping Pakistani nationals get bogus documents. His second wife is also under scanner as she lives in Pakistan.
