Siddaramaiah was speaking on the occasion of police remembrance day, during which he paid tribute to 216 policemen who lost their lives in the line of duty across the country.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said 100 new police stations would be opened in the state and 10,000 police quarters would be constructed by 2025.
Siddaramaiah was speaking at the police remembrance day, where he paid homage to 216 police officers who laid down their lives in the line of duty in the country, including 12 in Karnataka.
“It is the government’s duty to provide houses for policemen. We will build 10,000 residential quarters by 2025 for which ₹2,000 crore has been allocated,” the CM said.
He said 100 new police stations will be constructed, for which ₹200 crore has been sanctioned.
The Chief Minister also declared the seven new public schools opening and promised to open more such institutions in the coming years.
Maintaining law and order is essential for ensuring a peaceful society, Siddaramaiah said. A peaceful society attracts investments and creates more job opportunities, increasing per capita income and improving the economy.
Agung said, ”The Highways are being patrolled by 200 vehicles, and public spaces are being watched through 6,000 CCTV cameras to prevent illegal activities and in case of an accident.”
He assured police officers that the state government would provide all the facilities to them while they discharge their duties on this occasion.
