In Noida, authorities have arrested 34 farmers for protesting without permission. In response, intense security and tightened restrictions are in place ahead of the farmers’ planned “Dilli Chalo” march on December 6.
As many as 34 farmers were detained late on Wednesday for planning protests at the Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal in Noida without official permission. The farmers were reportedly on their way from the Zero Point at Yamuna Expressway to Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal in Noida to hold a protest to press for their demands.
The Noida Police said that the farmers were later sent to the jail. Meanwhile, security at the Zero Point was beefed up ahead of the planned ‘Dilli Chalo’ march by farmers on December 6.
The sit-in protest at the Zero Point ended last night. However, after detaining the farmers, a video message from farm leader Rupesh Yadav called upon his supporters to again gather at the Zero Point at noon on Thursday.
Heavy police presence was also witnessed at other key locations: Mahamaya Flyover, Rashtriya Dalit Smarak Sthal, and Chilla Border.
