The Army said the accident occurred due to bad weather and poor visibility. Srinagar: Four soldiers died after an Army truck skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday.
Officials said bad weather played a role in the accident near the SK Payen area around 2.30 pm. In a statement, the Army said, “A vehicle of the Indian Army skidded and rolled down into the gorge due to bad weather conditions with poor visibility. Injured soldiers were promptly evacuated for treatment, and we place on record thanks to the citizens of Kashmir for extending immediate aid.
Tragically, three of the Bravehearts lost their lives in the unfortunate accident. Indian Army extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” the Army said. Hours later, the Army’s Chinar Corps said another soldier had died of his injuries.
