7 family members charred to death in Sikar car-truck collision

Seven family members were killed in a Sikar road accident.

Seven members of a family were killed after the car they were travelling in collided with a truck in Rajasthan’s Sikar district on Sunday and caught fire, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Neelam Goyal (55), her son Ashutosh Goyal (35), Manju Bindal (58), her son Hardik Bindal (37), his wife Swati Bindal (32), and their two minor daughters – all residents of Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut.

As per police, the family was returning to Meerut after visiting the Salasar Balaji Temple in neighbouring Sikar district. On the way, their car collided with a truck while attempting an overtaking manoeuvre near Churu to avoid hitting an oncoming vehicle.

The impact caused the car’s gas kit to burst into flames. The fire was further fuelled by cotton in the truck. Witnesses said the trapped victims could not break free due to the locked doors and intense flames, losing their lives before rescue arrival despite efforts.

The truck driver and helper managed to flee unhurt. Police traced the vehicle owner and identified the deceased through its previous legal agent. Further probe is underway.
