About 80 students in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district council school were admitted to different hospitals on Saturday after they were affected by vomiting from biscuits that they ate in their school.
About 80 students of a district council school in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district were admitted to the hospital after consuming toxic biscuits, which formed part of the nutritional meal program, claimed officials.
The sick children were nauseated and vomiting after taking the biscuits at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at a school in Keket Jalgaon village, according to a local official.
As soon as the school head got to know of this, he and other authorities of the village rushed to the scene and organized for transport to the hospital.
A rural hospital received the students and reported that their health was stable.
As per Dr. Babasaheb Ghughe, medical officer of the said hospital, 257 students developed symptoms of food poisoning after consuming biscuits in the morning around 8:30 a. m. About 153 of the affected were rushed to the hospital, and some of them were treated and discharged.
But seven students who contracted severe symptoms were referred to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Civil Hospital for admission, as per Ghughe.
There are 296 students in the school.
An inquiry of what resulted to food poisoning is currently being conducted.
