In the latest twist in the alleged assault case on Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) head Swati Maliwal, the Aam Aadmi Party AAP has today accused the police of grabbing a CCTV camera from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s house.
In a news conference on Sunday, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the police have already recovered the digital video recorder (DVR) of CCTV cameras installed in the entrance gates and walls around the residence of Punjab’s Chief Minister.
Bharadwaj claimed that the police are creating rumors that the CCTV footage has been intentionally deleted while the police have already seized the preferred videos. He also alleged that the police are bent on perpetuating their image before the elections.
Maliwal has leveled the complaint and alleged that an aide of Kejriwal named Bibhav Kumar assaulted her on the 13th of May when she went to visit the residence of the CM of Delhi. The Delhi Police has registered cases against Kumar for molestation and attempt to cause culpable homicide; Kumar has, in turn, filed a counter case against Maliwal.
Bharadwaj expressed his doubts about the sequence of events, as the media released the image of the daily diary entry within 30 minutes of the former AAP legislator Maliwal’s call, and the accused and the party did not have a copy of the FIR.
The political finger-pointing game is set to continue, and Delhi Police has not yet provided any response to the AAP regarding the seizure of CCTV footage.
