AAP alleges forced eviction of CM Atishi from official residence

On Wednesday, the Aam Aadmi Party said Delhi Chief Minister Atishi’s belongings were forcibly removed from her official residence at 6 Flagstaff Road following the orders of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. The AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, claimed this was part of a BJP strategy to seize the Chief Minister’s residence.

The visuals from outside the property showed the PWD officials moving cartons and luggage, giving a glimpse of the ongoing developments there. Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh, attacking the BJP, said their trying to take possession of the residence was indicative of their desperation to seek public support after remaining “out of sight” for 27 years.

Officials at the LG’s office explained that 6 Flagstaff Road is not listed by law as the Chief Minister’s official residence and falls under the PWD. Sources said former Chief Minister Kejriwal never formally handed over the property in writing, casting suspicion over the motive.

Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva welcomed the development and said the residence has “finally been sealed” while questioning the circumstances leading to Atishi’s shifting. Arvind Kejriwal resigned in September and has shifted to 5 Ferozeshah Road.
