AAP angered by denial of Atishi to hoist flag on Independence day

Writing to Rai, the GAD has stated that under no circumstances could Atishi hoist the national flag for Independence Day while Kejriwal is not around.

Delhi’s General Administration Department (GAD) on Tuesday ruled it will not be able to allow Delhi Minister Atishi to unfurl the tricolor on Independence Day as planned by CM Arvind Kejriwal, who is in jail over a money laundering case.

The General Administration Department raised an objection when Atishi tried to hoist the tricolor in the state on Independence Day, saying that since there is a set process for how Independence Day is to be conducted, her actions would disrupt the consecrated message of the Independence Day program.

Delhi’s new viceroy wanted to unfurl the flag, said Atishi in a clear reference to the fiasco with the L-G as a certain VK Saxena watches:

Correspondingly, Delhi’s elected government is being deprived of the right to hoist the national flag. There is a new viceroy, and he would like to hoist the national flag.  The Lieutenant Governor would like to hoist the national flag on the occasion of Independence Day. To this, Sen said it was the right of the elected government to hoist the national flag of the country.

In the past, Delhi Minister Gopal Rai instructed the GAD to make the required preparations for Atishi to raise the national flag if that is what Arvind Kejriwal wants.
