A new development that swept them off the ground was that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has recently assigned Sanjay Singh, a member of Rajya Sabha and a senior leader of the said party, the new chairmanship of the AAP Parliamentary Party. This coincides with a time when the head and commander-in-chief of the AAP party, Arvind Kejriwal, is in jail facing charges in the excise policy issue.
One of them is Sanjay Singh, who has been a member of the AAP since its formation in 2012 and has quickly been promoted to the party’s central leadership. He also served as a member of the Rajya Sabha for the first time in 2018 and again in the current year.
Reporting to the Rahul Gandhi-led parliamentary party of the Indian National Congress, as the chairperson of AAP PP Singh will be expected to ensure that the party’s tactic on legislative business is smoothly off and on the ground in the two Houses of Parliament besides being responsible for discipline among the AAP parliamentarians.
The role also involves establishing the party’s positions or coordinating engagements with other political parties and government, officials, and parliamentary committees.
It would be relevant to note that Sanjay Singh is on bail granted by the Court in the money laundering charge about the shelved Delhi excise policy. He became a free man after the SC released him on bail in April after the ED abstained from opposing it.
Lately, Singh has accused the NDA government of political vendetta and stated that such politics will not help his party. While speaking on the Motion of Thanks during the President’s address, he said whatever you are doing with our chief minister (Arvind Kejriwal) would not benefit you. We will not bow before you even if you chop us into a hundred pieces.
