A war of words has erupted after the BJP called the AAP’s women’s welfare schemes misleading. Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP of planning politically motivated raids against AAP leaders.
Hours after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal of misleading Delhiites with false promises under the ‘Sanjeev ani’ and ‘Mahila Samman’ schemes, the former Chief Minister has claimed the saffron party is “badly upset” with the schemes launched by his party.
Kejriwal also claimed the BJP will arrest Chief Minister Atishi and conduct raids on AAP leaders’ residencies. Following that, it was revealed that the Women and Child Development Department of Delhi and the Health and Family Welfare Department had released advertisements in local newspapers here warning residents and claiming there were no such schemes of which this notice was “official notification.”
The government department also warned citizens against giving away personal details, such as bank account information, voter ID cards, and phone numbers, as this could lead to privacy breaches and data leaks. At a press conference on Tuesday, Bansuri Swaraj branded the Aam Aadmi Party government as a “failed administration” and raised a Rs 7,000-crore deficit during Kejriwal’s tenure.
Swaraj claimed that Delhi’s health secretary publicly denied the existence of the ‘Sanjeevani’ scheme, calling it an AAP government “fabrication.”
She further slammed the ‘Mahila Samman’ scheme, labelling it a “hoax”.
“The promised Rs 2,100 for women is a mere gimmick,” she said, adding that the cabinet note only approved Rs 1,000, already announced in March before the Lok Sabha elections.
A statement said the BJP leader accused the AAP government of deliberately stalling the Modi government’s welfare schemes, including Ayushman Bharat, which remains unimplemented in Delhi.
The party has pointed out the “failure” of AAP in Punjab, pointing out that women there haven’t received any promised funds in the last two years of AAP rule. She also questioned Kejriwal’s priorities, claiming that he has been talking about “baseless” narratives rather than addressing the critical issues in Delhi, like air pollution, the condition of the Yamuna River, and overall development.
