Abhishek Kar apologizes for controversial remarks on assam

Financial influencer Abhishek Kar has issued a public apology after a controversial remark during a podcast sparked outrage and a response from the Chief Minister’s Office in Assam. With three million followers on Instagram, Kar was at the eye of the storm after a discussion with entrepreneur Riya Upreti.

He made wild allegations in the podcast over “tantric practices” in Mayong of Assam, where a number of women allegedly could turn a man into a goat and get him back into human form in order to fulfill their sexual urges. For utterances, he instantly came under attack online as the Chief Minister’s Office termed the comments “unacceptable” and misrepresentation of the history and tradition of Assam in such a distasteful manner.

In a statement, the CMO said a video featuring Kar’s comments shared by Upreti was doing the rounds and asked the government to take proper action against him for spreading misinformation. Director General of Police GP Singh was quick to respond to the CMO’s concern on social media, saying lawful action would be taken accordingly.

Kar then posted an apology video for his comments in the podcast, citing the situation that was getting out of hand. He apologized and asked to take down the offensive clip, saying he should be more careful when using secondary information sources in public discussions.

Kar is known for his sagacity with everything finance and has, time over time, been in discussions on investments and startups across various platforms; he has nearly two million subscribers on YouTube. His recent comments have just opened a very important discussion on responsibility and sensitivity in public discourse.
