In a bizarre murder, the man who had filed a court case against then Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and others accusing them of corruption in the Medigadda barrage construction was killed in Jayashankar Bhupalpally town on Wednesday, one day ahead of a court hearing.
The victim, N. Rajalingamurthy, aged in his 50s, was allegedly stabbed to death by two unknown attackers while on his motorcycle at around 7:30 PM. Even though his accusations were high-profile, the police have dismissed any political motive and attributed the murder to the existing land disputes.
According to police officials, Rajalingamurthy succumbed to his injuries when he was being hospitalized. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to pursue the offenders.
Rajalingamurthy had previously filed a private complaint in October 2023, seeking registration of an FIR against K. Chandrasekhar Rao in the wake of concerns regarding Medigadda barrage stability, especially after a report of certain piers “sinking.” KCR and his nephew, former minister T. Harish Rao, appealed to the Telangana High Court in reply. In December, the high court stayed an order of a lower court which had granted a petition against them, highlighting the legal complexities involved in the case.
