Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said it is an “auspicious” opportunity to serve millions of devotees at Maha Kumbh Mela, the largest congregation in the world, that begins in Prayagraj since January 13.
In association with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKON), Adani Group is committed to serving meals to the audience during the congregation, which will go on till February 26 and is expected to receive nearly 400 million devotees.
Adani has shared a message on social media: “We are blessed to have the auspicious opportunity of serving lakhs of devotees on the divine occasion of Maha Kumbh. Service is meditation, service is prayer, and service is God. May the blessings of Mother Ganga be upon us all.”
The Adani Group and ISKON are also hopeful of serving “Mahaprasad,” or sacred meals, to about 100,000 visitors each day. Meanwhile, the conglomerate, along with Gita Press—famous for being the biggest publisher of Hindu religious texts—distributed one crore “Aarti Sangrah.”.
Accompanied by his wife, Priti Adani, Chairperson of the Adani Foundation, and son Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and SEZ Limited, Gautam Adani attended the festival and offered prayers at the Triveni Sangam-the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. He participated in various rituals at the Mela, including the preparation and distribution of Mahaprasad to pilgrims.
The Maha Kumbh Mela draws in millions from all over India, even beyond the shores of the country, unifying them in their quest for a holy dip at the Sangam. Recent satellite images issued by the Indian Space Research Organisation have mapped the sprawling tent city of Prayagraj, putting in perspective the size of this big event.
As many as 88.1 million devotees had already visited the Sangam as of January 20, estimated the Uttar Pradesh government, in yet another confirmation of the Mela’s status as one of the largest gatherings in the world.
